The River’s Edge Clinic addition on the River’s Edge Healthcare Campus incorporates needed services for the community of St. Peter. It opened in April of 2009. This multi-use, single-story, 25,303 square foot facility is directly connected to the River’s Edge Hospital, Benedictine Long Term Care Facility, ISJ/Mayo St. Peter Clinic, Mankato Chiropractic Clinic and River’s Edge Pharmacy. The clinic features a main shared entrance, creating and enhancing a unified presence.
To better serve the community, the Clinic incorporates the Live Well Fitness Center which is open to patients, staff, and community members. The clinic has fifteen exam rooms with five physician offices and other support functions. Providers and patients have direct access to many of the hospital’s services and departments including lab work and imaging. Chiropractic, acupuncture and massage therapies are offered by the Mankato Chiropractic Clinic.
The clinic design team focused on environmental sensitivity and sustainable design. A geothermal system serves as the building’s mechanical system. A large translucent skylight invites warmth and natural light into the main lobby without significant heat gain or glare. The windows feature sun shades which also reduce heat gain and glare. The exterior limestone complements the hospital and was supplied by a local quarry. The walls throughout the entire clinic feature artwork created by a local artisan. The facility was constructed to expand to a second floor to accommodate future services.
Yanik served as Owner’s Representative and Construction Manager for the project. Architectural design was provided by HDR.
